In response to serious and wide-spread community concerns about public safety, CAG has broadened its Public Safety Program. The program hires private guards, organizes block captains, conducts a pilot camera project, and works closely with the Metropolitan Police Department. The CAG initiative is 100% paid for by the community and needs your support to continue. All contributions are tax deductible. The expanded program is based on the premise that there is strength in numbers and community involvement. We urge you to join other Georgetown residents in supporting the initiative by making a tax-deductible donation now. Financial support from all residents–at any level–is essential to protect our families and property. All donors receive a CAG Public Safety window sticker and special information about the program, including the guards' cell phone numbers. Only donors can contact the guards directly any time they are on duty. Many residents find it useful to have the guards escort them (or their guests) between home and car and to have the guards pay extra attention to their property while on vacation. Since we expanded our program to include this service we have had excellent reports about our guards responding quickly and efficiently to donors’ special requests.

Friends of CAG
This group of donors allows us to keep our programs running at the highest level we can hope for and to provide many of our services to Georgetowners without charge. Without these special gifts we would have to compromise programs and services. We need these gifts if we are to keep our regular dues and program charges at such a level that we encourage the most widespread participation of Georgetowners. To support CAG as a Friend, use the PayPal donate link above or call the CAG office at 337-7313. Learn more and see a list of donors on our Friends of CAG page.

DC Fair Skies
Residents of communities near the Potomac including Georgetown are increasingly subjected to excessive aircraft noise, eroding the quality of life and damaging property values. In Spring 2015, the FAA authorized a new northern flight path called LAZIR that brings planes over Georgetown and Georgetown University and nearby communities including Foggy Bottom, Foxhall, Hillandale, Burleith, Colony Hill and Palisades as early as 5 am and well after midnight. The number of flights has also increased. The resulting significant increase in aircraft noise is disruptive to the peace and quiet of all residents near the new flight path. Petitioners have formed the DC Fair Skies Coalition to pursue aircraft noise mitigation and filed a formal petition with the FAA seeking relief from the aircraft noise this new route has caused.

If you are frustrated by aircraft noise, please support the Coalition’s Aircraft Noise Fund. Appellate litigation is a marathon not a sprint and we need to raise an additional $60,000 more to continue to fight the FAA.

Trees for Georgetown
Trees for Georgetown's purpose is to plant and maintain the trees that line the residential streets of our community. Working as a committee of CAG since 1989, Trees for Georgetown has planted nearly 2,000 trees, contracted watering services during drought periods and provided preventative maintenance of at-risk trees.
For several years, Trees for Georgetown has been partnering with the DC Urban Forestry Administration, and Casey Trees in an innovative program to plant residential street trees. Species planted include honey locust, burr oak, chestnut oak, overcup oak, scarlet oak, northern red oak, swamp white oak, sweetgum, zelkova, hornbeam, and London plane.
Each tree costs approximately $800 to purchase and plant. Trees for Georgetown is a volunteer group funded entirely by gifts and grants. Please support the continuing effort to keep our neighborhood vibrant and green.

CAG is initiating a new effort to ensure the future of our organization. We are launching a Planned Giving initiative, whereby we invite our members to remember CAG through a bequest to the association. Our Board of Directors, each and every one, has committed to doing exactly that – leaving a portion of their estate to CAG to ensure a thriving future for the oldest, and most active, citizens association in the District, a 501(c)3 public charity recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. Learn more on our Planned Giving page.
